Electric Utilities

  • Northeastern REMC – (260) 625-3700 – Located on the eastern edge of Columbia City in the Park 30 Business Center.  A $15.00 membership fee is due prior to activation of service.  Typically a one-day notice is required.  Sellers can call office for disconnect date.
  • AEP Electric -  (800) 311-4634 – Located at One Summit Square – No deposit is required for new service provided there is no outstanding balance due.  To transfer service from seller to buyer, a phone call 2 days prior to desired switch date is sufficient and no deposit is required.

Gas Utilities

 

  • NIPSCO -  (800) 424-7726 – Located at 300 East Main Street – Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Service can be arranged through a phone call and no deposit is required for new service provided there is no outstanding balance due.  A 24-hour notice is required to arrange a meter reading.  If prior service has been disconnected, a 24-hour notice is required and the buyer will need to meet a service person at the property.

  • Northern Indiana Fuel & Light -  (260) 422-9196 – Located in Auburn, Indiana – No deposit is required for new service provided there is no outstanding balance due.  A phone call is sufficient to establish service.

 

Water & Sewer Utilities

  • City Utilities - (260) 427-1234 – Located in the City County Building, Second Floor, Room 270 – To establish new service, you must go to the office and pay a $60.00 refundable deposit.  At this time you will need to provide a valid photo ID and proof of your Social Security Number.  If just a name transfer is required and you are a current customer, service can be established over the phone.
  • AquaIndiana -  (260) 489-1502 – Located at 2200 West Cook Road – You will need to call to arrange an appointment, and meet a service person at the home where you are initiating service.  A $30.00 fee will be added to your first bill.

Other Services

  • Comcast Cablevision – (260) 456-9000 – Located at 720 Taylor Street.  You will need to call to arrange an appointment, and meet a service person at the home where you are initiating service.  They will collect the first month’s charges and an installation fee in the amount of $35.50 for the first outlet and $17.00 for each additional outlet.
  • Verizon Phone Service – (800) 483-4000 – Phone service can be activated by calling Verizon provided there is no previous outstanding balance.
  • Newspapers – (260) 461-8519 – Service can be started or transferred for the Journal Gazette (Mornings) or the News Sentinel (Evenings) by calling the customer service department at the number listed.
  • Garbage Pickup – Garbage service can be provided by Waste Management – (260) 447-5585 or National Serv-All – (260) 747-4117.  We recommend that you check with both companies for rates as they will occasionally offer group rates to neighborhood associations.
  • United States Postal Service – Don’t forget to complete a change of address form.  You may complete this online for a $1.00 charge or print it and return it to the post office branch that  services the address you are moving away from.
